Organizing Minecraft Profiles for Shader Testing

Keep shader experiments separate from everyday worlds with clear profiles and configuration notes.

Separate game profile folders containing snow, forest and desert worlds

Use names that explain the setup

Name a profile with its game version, loader and purpose. A clear label is easier to recognize than a sequence of copies with nearly identical names. Keep a short text note inside the instance describing the renderer and shader pack.

Separate worlds from experiments

Copy a small test world into your shader profile. Keep your main survival world in its original profile until the new setup is stable. Remember that opening a world with a different mod list can change content beyond its appearance.

Save a working configuration

Once the setup works, make a backup while the game is closed. Record the shader preset and any manual changes. This gives you a practical recovery point before experimenting with another pack or updating components.
