What changes when you use shaders

A shader pack changes how your world is rendered. Lighting, shadows, water and atmospheric effects can make a familiar landscape feel different. Oculus provides a way for compatible shader packs to run in a supported Forge environment; the visual choices come from the pack you select.

Separate the loader from the pack

Installing a shader loader alone does not choose a visual style. You also need a compatible shader pack. Keep the mod file in your instance's mods folder and the shader archive in its shaderpacks folder. Read each download's requirements before starting.

Start with a simple test

Use a separate game instance and a test world. Launch with the minimum required mods before adding the rest of your pack. This gives you a known working starting point and makes later problems easier to isolate.
