Oculus Mod versions at a glance

Oculus Mod Minecraft 1.20.1

The flagship build and the one most modpacks use. Install Forge 1.20.1, Embeddium for 1.20.1 and Oculus 1.20.1, then add a shader pack.

Oculus Mod Forge

Oculus is a Forge mod first and foremost. It covers Forge 1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.19.2 and 1.20.1. Always download the build that matches your exact Minecraft version.

Oculus mod dependencies

• Minecraft Forge — same version as Oculus.
• Embeddium — required renderer on current builds.
• Rubidium — used by older builds only. Never install it together with Embeddium.
• Shader pack — optional, but you need one to see shaders.

Oculus Mod Fabric

There is no Fabric version of Oculus, because Oculus is the Forge copy of a Fabric mod. On Fabric, install Iris Shaders with Sodium. On versions before 1.21.1, add Indium if other mods ask for it.

Oculus mod 1.21.1 NeoForge

Oculus doesn't target NeoForge 1.21.1. Iris publishes official NeoForge builds for 1.21.1 and later, so use Iris + Sodium there instead.

Oculus Mod 1.20.4

No Oculus build exists for 1.20.4. The simplest way to run shaders on this version is Fabric with Iris and Sodium.

Oculus Mod 1.21.10

For 1.21.10, use the latest Iris release on Fabric or NeoForge. Oculus development stops at 1.20.1.

Oculus Mod 1.12.2

Oculus was never made for 1.12.2. Forge 1.12.2 players run shaders with OptiFine.

Troubleshooting

• Crash on launch: remove Rubidium if Embeddium is installed, and remove OptiFine.
• No “Shader Packs” button: you launched vanilla — choose the Forge profile.
• Pack won't load: keep it zipped inside shaderpacks.
• Low FPS: lower the shader's quality profile, render distance or shadow distance.
