Choosing a Shader Pack for Your Play Style
Compare lighting styles, readability and settings when choosing a Minecraft shader pack.

Decide what matters in play
Builders may value natural colors and clear interior lighting. Exploration players may prefer atmospheric skies and water. For combat, readable shadows and a stable frame rate may matter more than cinematic effects. Choose with your actual play sessions in mind.
Compare the same scene
Use the same world, camera position, weather and time of day for comparisons. Check an indoor room, an outdoor landscape and an area with water. Screenshots help you compare appearance, while moving around reveals distracting blur or flicker.
Check the pack documentation
Confirm that the pack supports your shader loader and read any known limitations. Save its original archive and note the preset you selected. If you change several settings, export the configuration when the pack provides that option.
